In this module, you will learn component parts of arm balances, understand muscular efforts, and explore body movement. You will learn how to utilize different postures to move towards the arm balance pose. You’ll be able to develop a better understanding of arm balances and how to adjust, adapt and shift your yoga practice for your own body and later on for others.
The course heavily focuses on the mechanics and dynamic of Chaturanga Dandasana (the foundation pose for the arm balances that will be learned) – exploring the muscles that need to be awakened and how they work together to create a solid foundation.
Asana Explore various ways that build skills to physically prepare the body for various arm balance poses.
Anatomy & Movement Understand and integrate anatomy and movement principles that release and strengthen the body for arm balances.
Practice Learn to build an intelligent and efficient sequence for one’s own practice and for the practice of others.
Philosophy Reflect on how the Yamas manifest in one’s own life and how it can improve life off the mat. Journal entries or reflection papers will be required each week.
